OVERVIEW
The informal sector can be described as the segment of the economy that does not have sufficient government presence and as such lacks the adequate control and regulatory frameworks for its operations. It is in this view that the Informal Sector Research Cluster was conceptualized by Covenant University Management to carry out robust and comprehensive investigation into the informal sector of the Nigerian Economy with a view to formulating policies that will help direct government attention towards organizing and regulating their activities for better performance. The research cluster was inaugurated among other research clusters by the University Management as a drive to achieve innovation and development. The cluster is envisioned to be a leading innovative research cluster committed to promoting quality and community-impacting research on the empirics of the informal sector. The cluster’s undertakings are directed towards the provision of timely evidence-based research and suggestion of policies on the economic and welfare development of Africa.
