Preamble
The social and economic development of a country can be greatly influenced or determined by the dynamics of its population, that is, in terms of its fertility, mortality and migration. A good understanding of the changes that occur in the above three demographic components can enhance the development of effective policies and programmes to improve the social and economic welfare of the people. This sub-cluster is therefore designed to carry out research on the determinants of fertility, mortality and migration; and socio-economic consequences of changes in those variables. The research focus will be on Nigeria in particular and African nations in general.
Vision
To be an internationally-acclaimed research cluster whose research outcomes are aimed at providing effective and applicable solutions to the development challenges facing Nigeria and the African nations.
